I think I fucked up the background. Now EVERYTHING is dark and muddled.
Color theory fail.
I like how this one is coming out. Maybe one more draft later to darken the background and a pass with my white gen pel and markers to pop the foreground character more.
I also inked the Chrysalis from the other day. Welcome to the hive! I, for one, support our new alien changeling overlords.
Painting Celestia lineless just taught me I was going to paint in the outlines anyway, since any suffciently pale area vanishes with watercolor, and ponies are kind of flat and toony in their textures, unless you want to go full on uncanny valley territory.
You’d think drawing and inking or painting bigger would take longer, but it’s actually the same amount of time as the quarter size mini-watercolors do. Just a bit more awkward to place or carry.
