I decided to take an ounce of time for myself and work on Afterglow’s motion sprites. The headache for me is never the look of it (I know I can draw) but the flow of movement.
If the stick figures look good first, I know I’ve got it made. I also made the sprite chibier because it had better readability when reduced in size.
oh and you can see Flash’s classic Animated GIF error here. Have I ever mentioned Adobe is a piece of shit? If not, Adobe is a piece of shit that charges bullshit prices for fucking ruining Macromedia’s Flash and I only use the newer version because the old ones don’t have 64 bit support.
How I feel about the new update to Don’t Starve

I am trying to find a style from the pixelart sketching that I can still animate and will scale up or down…
This is kind of the vector version of it. Actually, when I look at pixelart, I see the top image. I just mentally fill in the blanks.
But I don’t know if that’s what everyone else sees, if I don’t make it all very explicit and nothing implied about edges.

Well, I just spent most of three days doing nothing but game art. I’m now much better at rocks, fish, and pixels in Flash.
Here’s hoping my partner makes the deadline for Ludum Dare Jam in time. Not all of the art made the cut into the build, some were things asked for and then without enough time to implement, others were added on a whim.
I don’t usually go to the nines with art, but that’s probably as close to a spread as I’ll get to my general art ability right now.
And if you couldn’t guess before that my major was once Biology or Marine Biology, you probably can now, I think my nerdiness is showing… with some factual leeway taken for the fact it’s a game, of course.
